Fire alert...

My Dad just called me on his way home from work because there is a fire near our home in Northern California. Please pray! This is a heavily wooded area and this is the home I grew up in. My Dad, Stepmom, and Stepsister live there.

**UPDATE: I believe the fire is contained as of 4pm this afternoon and my family is safe

It's an Aaron Movement...

Ooo... bird!

How does one fix an emo 4-year-old who is told
she can't bring her snail home from school?
A quick stop at the Pet Store did its trick.

(and watching Aaron dance to the chirping of the birds was super cute)

Día de la madre feliz

This is my mom.
She likes plants.
She has a PodCast.
She will soon be on TV.
She's pretty cool :-)
I filmed a show for her once.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom.

Escargot Friday...

You know... someday I will get married and have kids of my own, then I can post their pictures on my blog.
But for now, I couldn't resist again sharing with the world,
the cuteness of my daily buddies and their snail friends.

I hope that's ok Andy and Angela?

Aaron + Fruitbar =

1 second he was happily eating a snack in the car...
the next second he was a snack massacre - It all happened so fast...
I'm still trying to figure out how he got it in his shoes?

Positive Post Tuesday

This is one of my buddy's... code name: Mush.

I have lived at his house for over 2 years and he never ceases to amaze me. His dance moves are off the hook, he loves to make me laugh, he fearlessly charges into any obstacle (litterally), and he has a heart of gold. He loves Jesus, his parents, and his friends with a beautiful child-like faith.

Friday he was playing tag and collided with a pole at school. This morning he had surgery to correct the damage. He's a tough little guy, but is quick to snuggle with you on the couch. He's very concerned about who I might marry someday, but wants to make sure if I do, I still get to live at his house :-)

And yesterday, broken nose and all, he beat me bad in a game of Nerf basketball.

Myles is an amazing human being and I can't wait until his nose heals so we can have another dance party.

Expected...

Oh my sweet, loving, little, conniving, 19-year old sister...
She means well.... but all this hype from her about something "unexpected"... well...

My Dad and StepMom came, we had a nice dinner, we walked on the Goleta Pier (where I took this awful picture of the 3 of us!)

... and my Dad gives me 3 things from Nichole:

A Starbuck's card, a Journal, and a box of something called "Monkey Bread"... that's it... that was my sister's big surprise?
She wanted to bless me, which she did, but she could have made it a little less dramatic and stressful to me!

I had a rad and blessed time with my parents. My Dad told me he was proud of me, which was super sweet. And they are going to throw down a little money so Dawn and Tyler don't kick me out of the house for being delinquent with my rent ;-)

Unexpected...

So, my Dad and StepMom are coming through town tonight. There's nothing unusual about that. They are going to Malibu with their friends like they do every year.

I am picking them up from the train station tonight and then going to dinner with them before dropping them off at their friends house in Santa Barbara.

And then I got this email from my StepSister who lives with them:

"hey- bye the way.. wait for when our parents come to see you- something unexpected is going to happen.... hehe and you have no clue. hehe-- I love this not you knowing everything."

WHAT?!!!! What does this mean?
What's happening? I won't know until after 6pm tonight
and it's driving me crazy!!!!

Do you have any guesses on what I am to expect?

The Battle Ground...

Yes... it's almost 2am...
but I had to write something that's been stirring in me.
It begins like this:

Crumbling... I fall in a heap to the ground.
The sickening sound of broken flesh, sears into my mind.
I bury myself in a heap of my fears.
The battle rages all around me.

... If you want more, you can read it here:

  • Had my car broken into... again... but nothing was stolen this time
  • Helped throw a Strawberry Surprise party for TyBo - berry ;-)
  • and saw this Movie with my friends ------------>

It's worth it...

Root Canal...

Well... I survived... although as I type this the Novocaine is wearing off and the pain is creeping through my jaw... fun times... that I hope I never have to repeat again.
See that tooth in the middle with the white on top? That is the one that died and the dentist de-rooted... lovely isn't it?

Public Announcement...

Dominic Balli's first full length CD
- PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT -
came out today!

I had the grand privilege of stamping each and every person's hand who came to the CD release Concert tonight (and most likely tomorrow)...

And now I fear my fingers may forever be stained blue!

Check out some of Dom's new music on his MySpace: myspace.com/dominicballi

Potato Wars...

Now that I have finally recovered from the plague...
I am back to real life as I pick up my "normal" schedule again:

4.07.2008

And then...

I got the plague.... a.k.a.... the Stomach Flu...
I'm just glad it waited until early this morning when my people where back home.
Now Elie is looking forward to taking care of me.
She already made sure I was going to drink
plenty of fluids today :-)

Day 3...

I think Elie is feeling better...

4.04.2008

Here we go again...

Well... so much for everything going as planned with me and the kids...

It is currently 4:30 am on Day 2 of kids, and Elie has thrown up twice...

sad to say, this isn't the first time I have watched someone's kids while their parents have been gone, to wake up to them
puking.

I mean, what's the deal? My sole occupation is watching kids...

is there something about the parents being gone that causes the little ones stomachs to revolt?
I just hope Myles stays healthy... and me for that matter...
let the adventures continue...

4.03.2008

Me and the Kids...

This afternoon started 4 days of me and these two hooligans hanging out...
Dawn and Tyler are off to the Veil Colorado film festival
to support/see Jud's (Tyler's bro) movie "The Collective" premiering.
I survived afternoon one, kids are in bed, and there's been no tears.

But there's been some fun times already...

video
And then there was:
-Myles sticking Ice cubes in his bean and cheese burrito because it was too hot
-Me having no clue how to help Elie with her 5th grade math homework (& she's in 4th grade)
-Myles prayer tonight: "I just want to pray that you'll get a boyfriend and get engaged just like Zoe"

4.02.2008

Castle Wars...

Kevin (the other child I watch) and I have developed a game called "Castle Wars"...

basically we build fortresses out of blocks and destroy each others fortress with marbles and bouncy balls... it's entertaining to my 8 year old buddy and for some reason I never win...

Before Castle Wars:

The Aftermath:

In other news today... I get to have a Root Canal next Tuesday Morning...

the drama of my teeth continues...

Blank Bucks...

Ok... so either Starbucks is pulling an April fools joke or they ran out of black ink...

not that I don't mind my cup void of the weird goddess women and random
"The Way I see It" quotes...

but my blank cup this morning did take me off guard and didn't seem right...

my Soy Latte was just not the same

*UPDATE: I questioned my Starbucks informant today and found out why my cup was funny... but I've been sworn to Starbucks secrecy... all I can say is: pay attention to your Starbucks cups next week ;-)

3.29.2008

Say "Cheese"...

I love that I have my Saturdays back again...
